A sad ending to a promising career. . . . . .OR

So when I picked Taylor up from wrestling practice on Monday he looked terrible. He told me that he really did not feel good, and he looked it. So we took him home and put oils on him (some of you know that I prefer natural medicines and have used them for a long time) and had him ingest lots and lots of vitamin C and put him in bed. The next morning he still was not better. As the matter of fact he sounded even worse (cough, hoarse and mucus and a sore throat) and he was running a temperature. I didn't take his temp at this point, figuring that he would be better by the end of the day. So second round of oils and vitamins. We even had him into the Chiropractor who commented on how hot he was. So by that evening we took his temperature which we figured matched his face. (by this time he had developed a red rash all over his body which was getting redder and spreading all over the place, even to unmentionable parts)(and his face was very red, almost purple ish) . . .ok, so we took his temperature and it was 103.5!! Now I was starting to pay attention. Wednesday morning I went to school and when I got home I took him over to the Dr. The first thing they did was run a strep test. Well the test came back negative(no surprise to me as I was treating him with oils and figured they had killed it) however the Dr. told me that he was a little puzzled because his symptoms matched the particular strain of strep that is going around right now. He said that it looked like scarletina (aka scarlet fever) We left his office with a prescription and advise that Taylor should spend the next several days in bed getting better. Well we called coach Ben to let him know that Taylor would not be at the JV regionals today. He was still holding out hope until we didn't show up for it. But because he could not wrestle (being sick and all) he cannot qualify for state, so that means that he is done wrestling for the year. He was one dissappointed fella, thats for sure! Sometimes despite our best laid plans, life just has a way of changing things. Better luck next year son! (you should know that in this picture he looks fairly normal, his face was much redder yesterday!)
